Revisit a past F/O
Bring the fortune and life of a past finished project up to the present. Document the current state and use of an object you have knitted or crocheted, whether it is the hat your sister wears to school almost every day, or a pair of socks you wore until they were full of hole. Or maybe that jumper that your did just didn’t like that much…
I’ve had to think about this one, I nearly went for the Colinette scarf I made a couple of years ago, which was very simple but has been worn lots, probably because it has quite a few colours in it and goes with lots of things. But I decided to go with my Apres Surf Hoodie, which was a labour of love but has been worn nearly to death.
I started during Wimbledon a couple of years ago (I always need some easy knitting to do during the tennis) but I only did the bottom before it got too complicated….
…and it took me another month or so to finish it. The lace was easy once I got the hang of it, but it did go on for just a bit too long, especially the hood. I spent a whole weekend doing the finishing, including more icord cast off than one person should have to do in one lifetime.
The yarn is Rowan Classic Cashcotton, which is gorgeous to knit with and beautifully soft, but has 18% angora, most of which has now come out on my furniture, car and other bits of my house. The rest pilled on the surface and has been pulled off in bits. Well, most of it has, I think it’s about due for yet another go.
wow! that’s really beautiful…. I love it! I totally want to make everything Connie Chang Chinchio has ever published, although it would potentially take me about seven lifetimes.
Know what you mean about pilling though, I only wear my angora top when I’m going out to the pub, so someone else has to hoover bwahahhaaah
