Well, today was my main shopping day at Knit Nation, and I’m afraid it wore me out some completely I crashed out and came back to Kerri’s flat at 5.30pm, missing the bingo completely. Actually I’m not that upset, I’m not a fan of bingo, and it was £20 to get in, which after the excesses of the day, seemed like a lot of money. I tried going for a walk to wake me up and get me going, but it just rained on me, so I took it as an omen and gave up on the day.
But I did have fun earlier! I did lots of walking round the marketplace and looking at things, and did make, um, several purchases (more of those another day, it’s too dark to take photos now, and I was too out of it earlier to even think of it. But I did take lots of photos of the marketplace, here are some of them. Apologies for the lack of captions, my brain just isn’t up to it… Clicking on the photos will enlarge them though, and I think a lot of them do have the stall name in there somewhere.
There was a place to chill out this year, apart from the tables outside, which was just as well, as the rain was torrential for most of the day. We took over the SCR upstairs, and Ysolda set up her salon there, with samples to try on. I did try on quite a few, but neglected to get any photos taken. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll be more organised. I did sit and knit with a few different groups of people, although I was feeling a bit out of it even by that point, so apologies if I didn’t respond to anyone. Hopefully I’ll feel more with it tomorrow.
Ysolda’s stand.
Pretty samples.
Lots of knitters.
And an unfeasibly large ball of laceweight Wollmeise, hand wound by Louisa, aka Velvet, who has more patience than me!
I was glad I’d arranged to help out on the p/hop and Yarn Yard stalls, as I found the shopping similarly exhausting!
I tried on a couple of Ysolda’s samples, but the trouble was that they all seemed to be either Ysolda-size (34″ bust) or Amanda-size (48″ bust) and as I’m more or less exactly half-way between the two I didn’t really get much of an idea of how things might look on me in the right size!
There were 40″ sizes in most of the Little Red garments this year, which was useful as I found them much too big. I was thinking I’d do 38″ sizes, but I think I’ll actually use the 36″ or even 34″ sizes as a starting point, and do some bust shaping. Ysolda told me I’d got narrow shoulders, which was useful to know, it hadn’t occurred to me before.
Drat, I totally missed those – I think that would have been about the right size for me so it would have been very interesting to try them!
This is an old post, but as I’m just going through my blog reader, it’s new to me!
I am very amused to see myself in your picture of the salon! :)
